If you SAE is 8-point, I can see that it would be tight. I have a 16 point and it it slightly loose.
The 26MM from my impact socket set works perfectly.
Actually, you can also use a large adjustable wrench. The torque spec is not that great.
The head of the large adjustable wrench makes hard to squeeze in to that area though.....I thought the 26mm socket would be better,I will just add it to my morning shopping list.
guess I won't need that 26mm socket in the morning after all, I've seen the pics others have posted showing metal shavings but should there be blobs of vaselene looking stuff on it?
Only shavings on mine- nothing coagulated.
Hope you removed the tire, 'cause it's a real pain if you don't!!!
I bought a new strainer for about $13.00 so I could just install the new one and take my sweet time cleaning and drying the old one for the next maintenance cycle.
Good Thinking maybe I should get a back up and a 26mm socket...had to put vice grips on it and give it a tap /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif to break it free. The 1 1/16" had to much play I thought I would round the edges.
