Transporting Tractor 1000 miles, Rent??

You will need a 10K trailer minimum to haul this and, given the relatively heavy weight of the trailer, you will be challenging your 8100# capacity. If you can find a place that rents heavy trailers, they may not allow it for your tow vehicle. I'm always big on doing everything myself, but at this point I'd be looking at getting a better deal on shipping.

Buying a trailer from a trailer dealer would probably cost $5000 for a 10-12,000# trailer to carry your tractor. They should be able to get it going for you in an hour or two. Then you will have a nice new trailer for a long time for hauling it around and for other chores.

I have to hand it to you. I would never buy a tractor that far away sight unseen.

Last year I was in a similar position. After running the figures including taking time off from work it was best to have it shipped. In hind sight I still think that was the right decision although I love road trips

Are you sure? The highest rated capacity I have seen for a suburban 1500 is about 6,500. The much rarer suburban 2500 probably is 8100.

Yes, there are plenty of rental places around here that have trailers big enough. As noted, your proposed vehicle is probably not rated enough to do this.

But more importantly, why would you be looking to get a 2wd tractor in this area? IGH is pretty hilly, and I think you will regret it. I often find I lose traction when in 2wd mode and doing anything serious. When the slipping starts, it occurs to me that I must be in 2wd and need to shift. Then all my troubles just melt away I would seriously reconsider this and go 4wd. My $0.02

No way I would tow a 10k trailer with a 1500. All tongue weight will be eaten up by the trailer before the tractor is even on.

Why would you want to buy a tractor so far from your home? Don't your local tractor dealers have anything suitable on hand?

So more specifics. It's a Mahindra 4025, 2WD, likely weighs 4389 lbs. Has a loader bucket, likely weights 1400 lbs. Then add 5' bush hog, and box blade. Methinks that's over the U Haul limit.

I the tractor weighs 4500 it might be another 1000 if the tires have fluid in them for added traction. Just a guess, but that would be 5500. Add 1400 for the FEL plus 700 for the box blade and another 600 for the bush hog then the total is 8200, if my math is right.

To carry that you would need a 12000# capacity trailer that might weigh 3500#. The total pulling weight then would be 11,700#, or 10,200# if the tires don't have fluid in the tires which you are not sure about at this time.

I am just curious if your heavy camper weight is close to that?

Also noticed you were in MN, and looking at getting a 2wd loader machine.....

I'd seriously reconsider both of those.

You are easily in 1-ton range for a 1000 mile trip IMO. And would be a tight squeeze on a 20' trailer with the loader and two attachments. Would require putting the bushhog on the tractor, and the box blade UNDER the loader. And no room to adjust weight distribution.

If you are looking at an 8k load, yep thats a 10k or 12k trailer, and I seriously doubt any sane rental place is gonna rent you a bumper pull trailer for a suburban. Dad just sold a IH 444 with loader and blade, maybe5-6k worth of machine. The guy didnt have a trailer and rented one through sunbelt rental. He was running a mid 2000's, maybe 05 or 06 F250. He rented the biggest trailer they would allow him to. Which was a 7k 16' trailer So using their (sunbelts) logic, bout the best you would do is a 6x10 single axle landscape trailer.
