Looking at purchasing a trash pump or sewage pump to rent out. We got 300" of snow this year and many basements will flood. The gas is higher flow but will require a truck to pick it up. It is louder and requires to be outside. Electric is cheaper to buy but will not flow as much. I am thinking it has to be electric due to weight. I would think folks will want to pick it up and put it in the car. I am older and don't want to be lifting it either. What are your thoughts?

I have an electric 2" trash pump that we can put into a 16x16 drain box when needed. It's been tested but so far not needed. It was tricky selecting the right one.
I have a gas 2" trash pump that is going on a 500 gallon firefighting trailer. Both have their specific uses. Electric is better for indoor use provided you have electricity when you need it.
A good electric trash pump costs as much as a cheap gas pump > Amazon.com

What is the amperage draw on the electric pump? I would be worried that someone would run it on an extension cord that is too small and the motor get ruined due to the voltage drop.

For removing water from a basement, I would imagine you would have more options with an electric pump, plus you wouldn't have to deal with potential carbon monoxide issues. If I were in the same position, I think I would also provide the heavy electric cord and specify no additional extensions may be used.

Just under 12. I would supply 50' of cord with it.

Heavy 50' cord taped together so not falling apart in the water.

A gas pump would be a better purchase because what happens
if the power is out????

I thought about that but if I have to have someone pick up something with a gas motor and actually know how to run it I think I would take out 75% of my local city :) Generally we are not in a storm but we had 300 inches of snow so far so when it melts we are going to have an issue.
