Today at the landfill section Trash to Treasure I found a set of coffee cans. Each of them had a label from masking tape with words: "Electrical Plugs, Screws, Nails, ..." It was quite a good source of material, but on the other hand it was sad. It all looked like grandpa died and they were cleaning out his handy storage of house maintenance if you understand what I envision here.

I will give it a good home and use it well - thats the best thing to do - but for my junk they will need a big truck to clean it all out.:D

Our town allows you to take no more than 3 times the amount that you deliver to the recycle center. They also require that you have permission from your wife to remove anything from the recycle center. Those arriving with a full load and removing nothing are not welcomed back.:D

I bought a rental house about 6 years ago and the garage was just full of stuff like that.

The real estate agent was ashamed to show it to me. It had happened just lke you think here. The people selling had lived there fo 40 years, and raised their family. Then the husband died, the wife was disabled, and while one of the kids took her in, none of the kids had time to sort out their father's tools & supplies.

There were all sorts of signs that a handyman had lived there for a long time.

I took what I could use and the rest went to the landfill.

To me, it was very sad that none of the kids had learned to enjoy their father's obvious love of tools & projects.
