Tree broke the stearing knuckle on the RTV 500

"Grut, I think you are wrong too. Tree is immovable object, utv would only have to be going 10mph. Trees are like hitting a brick wall, they don't give. Look at any car that hits one at 40mph and it's a right-off."

Very compairable?????? Totally different vehicles and speeds--NICE!

UTV=Heavy Duty
Engineered for Utility and Off-Road purposes
Car=Light Duty Engineered for fuel efficiency and more so for safety. A lighter vehicle produces the MPG and as for safety they are meant to fold up to reduce the force appied to the people inside it during an accident

Sorry, did get any pictures. I never got to see it in the daylight, working long hours. The wife took it to the dealer. I was concerned about the knuckle failure also. The dealer had said that Kubota had never seen this part fail. I think it was the type of shock it took. There isn't even any bark off the tree he hit.

I have 3 boys, the oldest is the one who hit the tree. He's back to the garden tractor when he can't use the wheel barrel.

Glad to hear your boy was OK and you had insurance for those costly Kubota parts!

BTW, Kubota has seen those RTV front knuckles break a few times. You have to hit something hard and at the right angle i.e. impact something while turning. Or there might be a casting defect but that is rare, and you would still need a sizable impact to cause it to break. Lastly, I'm sure the factory can ship a new knuckle, if needed.
