Tree on a truck

One year we had a bad wind storm. It took down 2 trees and I had about 20' of the top of one hanging down over the house. I cleaned up the trees on the ground. Had some roof damage and when the adjustor came out I pointed out the broken top hanging over the roof. He said they would cover removal if it hit the roof. I suggested it would be smarter to remove before that. He said they wouldn't pay for the removal unless it hit the roof. I said ok when it comes down you can pay for removal and repair of my roof. They decided it would be cheaper to pay for just the removal.
