Would like to know if one of these would work well on the fel of a Kubota 5740 to pull up to 3" elm and hedge trees.
Anything bigger I can saw and spray the stumps but its hard to find those small stumps after being cut.
Is there an issue with regrowth on any roots that don't get pulled on that small of trees?

I have seen ads for a "V" shaped type appliance attached to your loader that supposedly bites into a tree and then with your loader you simply pull it out by the roots. They show, maybe a 40 to 50 PTO HP tractor. I have two tractors, both can lift one end of an empty 40 foot shipping container about equally, and yet it's amazing how small a tree, each loader will not pull out of the ground! So I am highly skeptical! To me, that is also very hard on a loader and front axle.

Pull UP or pull out?

Pulling out is much easier then pulling straight up. You attach the device a couple of feet up and have some leverage. I assumed you meant the product that pulls straight up.

I have attached it to the FEL with a short recovery or tow straps and a shackle. I will push on the tree with the FEL then back up to rock it back. I usually attach the Grubber down near the ground. I will then pull straight up on it if it is small. Sometimes I have to do this several times to get it out. Most of what I have been pulling up have been cedar trees. I have tried some small oaks but they are harder to get out mainly because the teeth on the Grubber will just strip the tree of bark instead of digging in. It seems the ones without deep roots have succumbed to this and my tractor very well.

I use a ratchet rake ( Ratchet Rake, LLC - Rip and Dig, All Terrain Rake, Snow Edge, Tractor attachment, Bucket attachment, Loader, Skid loader, Kubota, Skid steer, Landscape rake, Brush remover, York Rake, Harley Rake, Rock Rake, Tractor rake attachment, Construction attac ) on my FEL to remove trees up to (so far) 12+" diameter. It grabs the trees and helps to pull out the root ball and then I use it (in reverse) to fill in the hole and level what is left.

I've only used it on about 75-100 trees so far and it looks like new except for a little loss of the paint. Also use it to remove rocks.

The brush grabber doesn't seem to do that well on trees. Not in my case anyway.

This is your loader specs.

Kubota LA854

Breakout force (at 500mm): 4,195 lbs [1902 kg]
Lift to full height (at pin): 2,489 lbs [1129 kg]
Lift to full height (at 500mm): 1,878 lbs [851 kg]

It seems like you could hook your chain low with loader flat on the ground and use the curl to extract the tree. Maybe pushing or pulling somewhat.

Some more attachments that might work.

Chaining the trees is an option but with the number of trees I have I was looking at something for my fel.
The one that grabs by squeezing like a log splitter looks like it would grab small trees better but with it being offset to one side it looks like it would be harder on fel.

I ordered a Brush Grubber BG-11 today. I'll post back after we get some experience with it!

My experience with the 35 pound BG-20 was exhaustion and sore muscles!

But it pulled everything that I put it on.

Works great on roots.
