Haven't posted on TBN in many a moon. But we had some trees taken down and thought others might like the pics.

The first is a before pic. We had the three oaks on the right front corner and two in back left corner taken down.

The used a crane to deliver the cutter to the tree.

He was "tied off" to the tree and they cut the tops off. The crane picked up the tops and lowered them to a worker to cut into smaller pieces

The tops were fed right to a chipper.

The second pic is of the last of the "triple oak" out front being cut off and the trunk being lifted away.

They used the crane to reach over and cut the back trees.

Which they then lifted over the house.

This is my daughter and future son in law (Fusil for short) cutting wood. Had to get the tractor in.

Next is me tossing rounds with a pulp hook while Fusil cuts.

Last is me splitting. Fusil and I split all of the wood by hand.

We all enjoyed it. Good hard work and good family time.

Them tree monkeys sure make it look easy..sight to watch..wouldn't/couldn't pay me enough to do that...tip of the hat to them. :)

With high winds and ice storm last couple years you folks been having,I see why or maybe one of reasons time to prune around the home.

Great pics,thanks for sharing. :)

Wayne,
we have lots of trees down here. I think it is because thet are the only thing Derry doesn't tax :)

Thomas,
you hit the nail on the head. We always have branches landing on the roof. Never been an issue. Then in September one fell straight down and pierce the roof. A piece the size of my forearm came through and lodge tight. It was a 12 foot long branch but the other 10 ft snapped off. That was an eye opener. Before they always landed horizontal on the roof. Never came straight down like a spear.
Made my wife extremely nervous. So the trees had to go. I won't miss the acorns as they were all oak. And I got a yeas worth of firewood.

Phil
