The Roselle (Ill.) police released this picture from a drunk driving arrest this week. The driver failed to stop after hitting a tree. Instead, the car was pulled over about 11:10 p.m. traveling the wrong way with a 15-foot-tree lodged in the front grille of the Lincoln.

Saw that on TV dashcam video. Drunks will do anything. I will always remember on old drunk with so many DWI's that didn't have a drivers license any more, and we were driving in to the jail. All was quiet in the police car, when he suddenly turned to me and said, "you know, I have got cows I can't even catch". Where that came from I will never know.

When I was a teen we came across a woman who had hit a tree dead on with her BMW. The engine was pushed through the firewall almost into her lap. She was sitting there trying to start the car.... So drunk she had no idea of what had happened. Virtually unhurt.

A friend of mine was killed when he hit a tree and the engine was pushed into the cab of his pickup.

No drinking involved, but going too fast.

When my wife and I were dating, we were over at her parent's house early one evening and the power went out. We were on our way out anyway, so when leaving her neighborhood, out at the main road, there was a power pole hanging from the wires about a foot off the ground. There were tire tracks going on both sides of the pole. It was a large pole, too. Snapped off right at the ground. But there was no sign of the vehicle that hit it or the missing couple feet of pole! We followed the tracks and they went about 100' past the pole in skid fashion. But then nothing. They just drove off. We went down the road about 3 miles but we never did see a damaged vehicle.
