Trenching with the BX, backhoe question.

Unless they've done something new and inventive to the newer BX-25's, just leave your gear selector in neutral, raise your outriggers, raise your front bucket, and push/pull to where you want to be.

Mine is a 2012 and works just fine, exactly like any Case, Cat, or JCB I've ever used. Good luck and let us know.

George

Yes!!

Be extremely careful moving it downhill while in neutral, there is a dangerous risk of it rolling off out of control! I don't have that interlock on my B21 and I have done the reach over and push down the pedal to move it. I always keep it in gear for the braking!

I guess I cheat and not so safe but often when I am trenching with my BX I often leave the seat facing forward and use the BH on my knees. I get real tired and quick of turning the seat to move the machine. The risk is throwing yourself out of the seat or bumping your head on the ROPS (I have LEDs mounted on the ROPS) especially if you have the RPMs high and then the BH gets 'jerky'.

Thanks for all the replies, I have some good ideas to try now. I will try to push/pull it with the hoe.

I have even placed my tractor back over a open trench from the side by placing the front bucket over the trench and using the hoe to lift and swing the tractor back over the trench.

Go on you-tube and watch some of the back-hoe tricks on there. It is amazing what a good operator can do with one.

I have a piece of 1 in pvc pipe . I just reach over , raise the bucket a bit and push on the pedal with the pipe .

Same idea here but just use a old broom stick (I did bypass my seat switch however)

I'm able to trench with my BX-25 in gear. However, there is a trick. First, always try and work with gravity--head downhill. When you push the hst pedal, you have to finesse it, giving little pushes. If you give too much pressure, too quickly, it will stall. Maybe they fine tuned your tractor so that you can't do this. But I can do it on mine.

This! This is what I've done as well. Was going to post it, but AStanton beat me to it.

How do you bypass the seat safety switch?
