We used to get a lot of looky-loos up our well marked neighborhood "Private Road" who said they were looking for roads into the National Forrest. Other signs along the road stated "Patrolled by Private Security" (us) and "Road Unsafe in all Seasons". They would turn into residents driveways, park, get out and take pictures of the lake from their front yards. The gate we put across the road was winched out once or twice but they finally got the message. We don't get too many folks on foot on our property as it is uphill from the road. Not too many people want to sweat when they are trespassing. :laughing:

Another reason for No Trespassing signs: A friend of a neighbor lost their property in a lawsuit. Some kids were "playing" on their property while they were gone and got hurt. The kids parents sued them and they lost the property. It was decided it was the owners were liable because they did not have No trespassing signs on their property.
More signs of people (parents) not taking responsibility for their own actions and blaming others when things happen.

I hear these stories all the time.... but basic homeowners insurance prevents these issues from happening. For as little as $150/year i have a $2,000,000 umbrella policy to protect my assets.

I used to be dumb enough to take guns from tresspassers. I used to have a pile of junk .22's and single shot shotguns. I used to tell them to come back with the warden to get the gun back. None ever did. Wouldn't do that these days. I did see a sign that said " Smile, Your'e on Trail Camera. Anyway. Most tresspass laws suck. WHere I live it's only a $50.00 fine if you could even catch someone. They run like **** when I come after them. It takes the Law about 8 hrs to investigate a crime that only pays $50.00. They don't bother.

To complement my signage, I would like to put together a paint spray-can booby trap that sprays a line along an ATV (and operator's leg) at about 18"-24" high. Place it in a narrow access point with either a mechanical buried pressure trigger or an electric eye (or maybe sound-activated trigger?). A nice orange enamel line along their expensive machines and riding togs would be fair payback for ignoring my signs.
