When I talked to my neighbor, I was on his porch. I left my weapon in my truck. Respect. It is not my home. When I'm on my property I am armed....when I am pretty much any place else, I am armed. But I was walking up to a man's home so I left my weapon in my vehicle. Just like taking off my hat when I walk into a building. I still can't bring myself to wear a hat inside.

If you loose all your hair and have a funny lookin melon, that'll change. ;)
Naw, not likely if he is anything like me. Even now in middle age, I would still be looking over my shoulder waiting for my mother to thump me up side the head and tell me to take it off. Some of that early imprinting will never go away.

May you all be lucky enough to have good neighbors. I have several great neighbors !

For all practical purposes, I have one neighbor. A really great neighbor. Having a good relationship can depend on how you deal with them. My neighbor asked if he could rent my backhoe. I said "he** no, you can borrow it at no cost, just as long as you bring it back". I am not worried, as I can see what he is doing and he is a great guy. I try to treat neighbors as family and have never had a bad neighbor. Just my $0.02

A lot of times, how good a neighbor you have, depends on how good of a neighbor you are.

And, likewise.... if one of the folks you live next to is a ash whole, doesn't mean you have to turn the other cheek. I have lots of great neighbors... Only nine on my road , but only eight that are great.... :)

Sorry, buddy. Not always. We moved to Virginia 3 years ago, bought 80 acres with a house in the middle. Our only close neighbor lives on the corner of the main road where my 2000 ft driveway starts. Everything was peachy keen until we had the property surveyed and staked. Turns out my property line is literally 25 ft off of his back deck. Now mind you, this is still quite a distance from my house. However he went ape **** and accused my surveyor of being a hack, and us of ruining his property. Meanwhile he was there years before us, and never bothered to do a survey himself. So, he demands that I give him 50 to 80 ft of land to make amends and be a good neighbor. Needless to say that never happened and he won't so much as wave when we go by. Thank God he is in Florida half the year, and we ignore him the other half.
