Sounds more like a charge pump??

In any case.. to the original poster: If your tractor is in warranty.. and you bring it in with a complaint of a problem.. reguardless if they find the problem or not.. i can't see how you would be charged for it.. unless it was a non warranty issue.. like user abuse.. etc.

The reason I brought up the pump is that he may have pulled the plug loose while changing the filter which would not be warranty. The plug is not well protected. It may be correct to call it a charge pump as it supplies pressure up to the injection pump and I think it provides return to the tank as well.

OK,now i understand.I did not realize it had two fuel pumps, that explains how it self bleeds.Where does it push the fuel, back to the tank[when it is not running]? Nice idea,on the wire, but no is the answer.
The tractor is running like the day i bought it.I got some chipping to do in my woodlot, and a truckload of gravel to spread, next weekend and then im hualing it to the dealer for a close inspection.I just gotta get these projects finished before snow.
Thank you all,you taught me something!!

The little pump only runs when the key is on and fuel returns via the return line.

Every now and then i can smell raw fuel coming through the exhaust.Whats going on? I got 3 months on the warrenty. Can you give me an answer or should i truck it to the dealer.Faulty injector pump? bad valve?I really need this tractor,to finish up projects before ground freezes[any time now]

seems you might have fixed the suction side air leak in the fuel system.if the fuel tank is accesible, if you have an air leak in the suction side of the fuel system, you wil probably be able to se bublles in the fuel tank. just a tip.

as far as raw fuel thru the exhaust, white smoke indicates incomplete combustion which is usually caused by low compression. black smoke is not enough air or to much fuel and blue is good old motor honey geting burned.

if injection pump has problem, it usualy wont cause what you described, you could have a sticking valve. Is the engine cold when it does the raw fuel thing? some diesels are notorious for being por runers until they warm up.

OK GUYS YOU CONVINCED ME.Even though it seems to be straightened out,i dropped it at the dealers today for a going over. The man said it sounds like you have done things like we would ,now lets put some test equipment on it and see if anything is wrong. He said probably a couple hours labor tops ,to test it out.I also asked them to go over the whole package and look for any warrenty issues. They are a week behind,so ill let you folks know whats up.thanks

Hi folks,
Im picking up the tractor tommorow. They did a bunch of tests to the injectors and they said its ok,and It must have been sucking clamps, and water in the fuel, and that i had already corrected it.Well i got a little peice of mind now.
they checked the entire tractor over from top to bottom, and all was fine...no issues, except they were not suprised that i ran it out of fuel, because the sending unit in the tank was all loose. They replaced that and Kubota gets the bill.I got to pay for a gallon of ballast i needed to top[ off a tire.Im very happy with that.
So two things i have learned
1 when you change fuel filters get rid of the old wire type clamps
2 power service cures alot
Also i will add a plug for RS OSGOODS in DIXFIELD ME,they are super good people, and i will not hesitate to deal with them.

THANK YOU ALL,NOW BRING ON THE SNOWBANKS!!
