I tell my Wife she's a Redneck. She gets very defensive and swears she is not. My evidence is this. A few years ago we were having our Annual Thanksgiving Shop Party. She was carving the turkey and cut her index finger pretty good. She wrapped it with a piece of shop towel and bound it with Ductape. :)

My redneck medical story: I was using a rotozip (no blade guard:confused3:) with 3" metal cutting blade to cut some rusty bolts when the thing kicked back and hit the back of my left hand. It cut across the index and middle finger knuckles deep enough that I could see a notch about 2/3rds of the way through the tendon for my middle finger. I cleaned it out and began looking for something to bandage it. I found a napkin in my truck, a roll of blue masking tape and a sliver of wood we had recently cut off the edge of a board. The sliver was about the size of a tongue depressor and was painted red. Putting this all together, I had a red splint, a white bandage held together with blue tape. I took my helper home and then went to the ER. There were four EMS techs there getting some OJT. They were impressed with my patriotic bandage job. The ER DR was a 30-something Jennifer Aniston look-alike, but I will end the story here to protect the innocent.

So I'm wondering why no one has mentioned turning the offending bolt the caught the op's pant leg around so that the head is on the outside of the bucket. It would be less likely to catch a pant leg that way. Yes I'm making an assumption but I can't see the offending bolt being able to trip the op any other way. Please correct me if I'm wrong..?

Glad you are OK!!

I was going to suggest cutting the bolt off short and grinding the stub smooth, but it isn't my tractor.

BTW, "Fortunately...." should preceed something more padded than a pallet of any kind, but it is all relative isn't it.

Thanks for sharing!
