Triumph Motorcycle?

Forty plus years ago took a ride on 550 Triumph. After falling asleep at 55mph and skidding down a gravel road at 04:00 AM got to spend several weeks in the hospital. Still got the scars and haven't been on a powered two wheeler since.

Be careful, guys! One of my friends at work just this past weekend lost control on a curve and put his Harley into the guard rail at a fairly high rate of speed. Shattered ankle, lots of road rash, and a severe concussion. He was lucky!

Daryl.......You could give your sled to my neighbor........He's been foaming at the mouth for it since I told him I saw it on my last trip north...........Your triumph won't fit under the cover on your sled trailer anyway !!............Tom

"Not to change the subject, but did you see where the Indian motorcycle company has went bankrupt again and shut down?
Too bad they couldn't make it. "

Ho Hum, who cares, just another V twin Harley wannabee. The real Indiam Motorcycle company is long gone and made inline bikes and some v-twins and singles I think. Triumph on the other hand does have the correct lineage and is not a Harley wannabee. The Bad Boys, Steve McQueen, James Dean and all that including the Fonz rode Triumph--not Harely.

I think you will like the new Bonnie, you do know that Kawasaki makes a Bonnie clone or did 'till recently anyway. It is a 650cc. There is one at the Kawa dealer here. Good luck. J

(you rode in a blizzard of nuts and bolts)

Too true! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

My bike has this problem where if you tighten the carb too much it will stick wide open or too little and it will fall off. One time I was out riding and stopped for a break and noticed that the carb had about a 3/8" gap between the carb and the spacer and it was still running.

Thank you guys for the journey down memory lane. I grew up as a kid riding Triumphs and Royal Enfield's in the U.K. The first bike I ever had as a 16teen year old was a 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub. I bet they never imported that into the U.S. Now I've got to go find that website.
By the way Bird, I never saw back to front controls until we started importing Japanese bikes in the early 60's. Tried it but never could handle it. Every time I changed gear, the back wheel locked up for some reason. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Bird:

Sorry for the belated reply, I have been out trucking and beating my logbook up. Well, at least until January 4th.

Triumph now shifts on the "correct" side. I am really bummed about one thing though, there is no kick starter. The boys at the triumph dealer said I could "glue" one on if I desired.
