Ok guys, another bizarro What was the Apache Revolver?

This was a combination weapon consisting of brass knuckles, knife and revolver made by some Frenchie named Apache.

It would close up into a brass knuckle configuration.

During WW2 the German's had several Submarines of the east coast. A real long trip in those subs.

They built a special supply ship for them.

What was it & what was it named???:confused3:

the Germans called them "milk cows". I think they were a type 9.. The normal Atlantic medium range sub was a type 7.

None of those Atlantic subs the Germans had were as sophisticated or had as many creature comforts as our Gato and Baleo class Long range Subs. They had better torpedoes though, especially at first.. The US cheaped out and did not test our torpedoes very well in the 1930's and for the first few years of the war in the Pacific, we had a lot of torpedo failures.

During WW2 there was a coverage gap in the Atlantic ocean that allowed the German subs to operate freely.

In 1942 or 43 There was a plane that had enough range & payload to fly & linger in the gap.

It also had a secret invention in use. What was what was the plane & the new invention it??? (Maybe improved technologically would be a better word. )

In 1906 the Germans manufactured a limited number of specially built Lugers. The exact number is at least 2; maybe as many as four. Serial number 2 is known as "The million dollar Luger". Why is it so special?

They were made in .45 acp to compete for the Army contract. HS

It was made in .45ACP caliber for the Pistol trials here in the US. The Luger lost.

Was it the Liberator B24?.. it seems they had a special high powered searchlight, called the "something" Lamp.. I cannot remember the name. Anyway, they made life tougher for the kreigsmarine. The end of the "happy time" for them.

The new invention was the double elliptical wings. HS

Sorry Houston, No such thing.
B24 May have had an advanced wing design.
But the most important improvement was a radar that could pick subs below the surface or a periscope.

About birds. Owl's almost or never poop. They barf up everything they eat.
Ravens - Crows when working their way up to mating do an aerial ballet. Sure nice to watch.

Davis wing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I would argue you are wrong since a radar could be carried by any air craft and was not part of the aircraft design. It's the wing that got the B24 out to the sub operating areas giving the performance and fuel saving to make the round trip and allowed the B24 to carry a heavier load. No radar detects subs underwater. HS

Hi HS,
Read the article you posted. No where does it mention double elliptical, which is not really possible. Davis airfoil is double Ellipse one on top & 1 on the lower surface. They may or may not be the same, top usually higher than the lower half. Commonly called semi symmetrical.

I flew anti sub patrols in a P5M1 & the radar would pick up subs below the surface. How deep I don't know as my job was engines & fuel management. The radar on the B24 was one of the first small enough to be carried by a plane.

Lets get back to some fun.

In the 50s, An American passenger car with an overhead valve V8 came from the factory with a supercharged engine. Who made it???
In the 60s another passenger car came from the factory with a supercharged engine. Who made it & what car was it??

It's a rare animal, but there was a factory T-Bird in the '55-'57 era that came with an optional factory fuel injection. They are worth a pretty penny today. The '57 Chevy also had a factory fuel injection option. This option extended at least until 1959. If you're talking fuel injection as a standard feature, I give up.

I'll take a wild WAG. Avanti by Studebaker. Have no idea on the year.

I have your answer re; 1950's supercharged engine and car, but I will disqualify myself, I cheated.
I cheated with the '60's as well.

There was a plane that was said to take off at 90 knots, fly at 90 knots & land at 90 knots.

What was it??
