Hello all again, I cannot get the video to work so I'm going to try some pics.

I ran it today and it worked well. It does about 13 rpm and I wanted it slow so as not to make too much dust. It feeds into 3 wheelbarrows. One for fines for a garden a mix,one for medium for potting for the orchidists and one for lumps for cooking on grills.

It is nothing new but I've reduced the framework by using the belt drive to help hold the barrel down, this also makes servicing (belts) easier.

Regards Vince.

Very nice, I could use one. I am not sure why but I like it. What do you use it for? Lets see pictures of it in action.

Hello Massy 1635.

Unlike others who may use them to sort soil and /or stones I use it to sort my charcoal into 3 sizes. I have no luck with movies so i will try to post a couple of pics.

Regards to all from vince in nth qld.

Forgive my ignorance but does the mesh change size 1/2 way along?

Looks like an item that will have more uses than you probably envisaged.

Are those cycle rims on each end of the drum?

Nice unit Vince.

We burn "carbon" down here in the islands. Still got guys in the bush producing it in the traditional way. I purchase it in potato sacks and it comes with nothing too large but some content that's fairly fine. I juice the pile with this to assist in getting it going.

"Grandpa said that propane may not be evil but it sure smells like the devil farted".

I can get an 8 hour 200 degree burn on two bone in pork shoulders on a spit, with only two reloads, under the kettle.

In this part of the world, they say that the Taino indians invented BBQ, derived from the Taino word Barbacoa, but I'm sure that would be disputed.

hello all,

allenr... yes I used 1 inch welded mesh throughout (5 ft. long) and overlaid 1/2inch mesh (very fine wire) over the first half to get three sizes of product.

The outer rims are 700 c from the salvage shop at the tip and the other (driven) is a 27" rim from same source, because this was a tad larger I had to cut a piece out to make it fit. All are tied on with tie wire.

I replaced the cluster on the complete wheel with an aluminum pully machined to fit the hub thread.

Recovery hill...I use a fire starter made from cardboard and vegitable oil.
They are great and don't taint anything. You can get a similar effect but not quit as reliable by using pieces of old egg cartons (cardboard ones) with a bit of some of mothers cooking oil. (not too much oil.)

Regards vince.

Now that I disrespected Propane grills I need to admit that I use a propane jet to light my coals. I used to use a "chimney", coals on top, newspaper underneath but the gas jet works like a champ. I cook on coals twice a week or better.......

Thanks Vince, for clearing up my questions.

And thanks for posting this thread and the pics to go with it - got me thinking.

You're not quite close enough for me to drop by for tea but I get the impression you eat well.
