Trouble re-sizing photo's

Re: Trouble re-sizing photo\'s

Gary, being a novice, I would have expected any of the cameras to come with software to manipulate photos. I used Microsoft's Picture It! for a number of things, and I also use my HP printer software some for photos, but the primary thing I use is Camedia that came with my Olympus camera.

Re: Trouble re-sizing photo\'s

Bird, I'm not sure about the "full" version of Camedia that Olympus offers to let you upgrade to, but the version that comes with their cameras is not what I consider to be user friendly. It works fine and if you learn it, I can see why you would not want to relearn another program. My biggest gripe with it is that it "buries" your pictures about 6 subdirectories down in your Programs subdirectory and it writes a little ".inf" file in each of the subdirectories so it can identify the pictures as an album. If I were to send you a CD full of pictures without that file, Camedia would not recognize the photos. It's a simple little thing, but after installing it with the Olympus camera I got my girlfriend for her birthday, I quickly showed her how to use ACDSee since it operates just like Windows Explorer. If I open a subdirectory full of pictures with ACDSee, it instantly creates thumbnails and an indexed database of photos. In my opinion, it's head-n-shoulders above the rest, but I also know you always like best what you know best. There's nothing wrong with Camedia if it gets the job done for you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't think that you could find an easier to use program than IrfanView....... and what makes it super special is that it is free for the downloading!!!!! Why buy the cow when the milk is free??????

Re: Trouble re-sizing photo\'s

Jim, I reckon the very first pictures I made with the digital camera are filed like you said because I let Camedia use its default, but since then I quit doing that. When I download pictures from the camera, I put them in my own subdirectories. Camedia can pull up those directories as well as any other and I have mine set up so they're displayed as thumbnails so it's not too hard to find what I want.
