trouble starting new 1046

I use the B&S "Plus" version of Stabil that's good for 2 years in everything I have that uses gas.

I've not had any issues with it, personally.

I am having the same problem.
New gas, plug,and gas filter.
Pump is getting gas to the carb.
Spark is good.
Took OHV cover off and checked valves to see if on was stuck, nothing.
My mower is 1 year old and I am ready to dump it over a cliff.
Also took flywheel bolt off to see if key was sheared but you cant see it good enough. Only the top of the key.

Sooooo whats next new motor??

remove the fuel bowl and inspect/clean the rubber coated fuel needle tip. They have a tendency to stick sometimes.

I did clean it. Also cleaned the carb. It is getting to the point where I am going to ruin my starter over this.

If you are sure the float needle is not stuck by observing that gas is entering carb during cranking and that spark is occurring at the plug, the only thing left is timing. Even a bad mixture will cause some attempt at firing. Spark, fuel and timing are the only variables, assuming you have compression.

PS- If there is no attempt by the engine to start within a few cranks (3-6), don't keep trying. It does not help, in fact all it does is wear out the starter system, drain the battery and flood the cylinders with gas, shorting out the plug.

What's next? Get a flywheel puller and remove the flywheel and inspect the key. If it is a Courage engine, there have been some key shear problems due to inadequately torqued flywheel nuts. -Fordlords-

Thanks for al the help, but after three days of pulling my hair out I have decided to take it to the shop tomarrow. This mower has been nothing but a pain in the behind since I have gotten it. This is not the first time it has done this. I think that the problem is the kohler motor. Maybe they should think about putting Briggs in them. I have never had a problem with a Briggs motor. I was just hoping that maybe someone knew of a faulty thing with this motor. I had a few people tell me that the hydralic valves in them are notorus for sticking.
