Finished baling and noticed hyraulic oil squirting from the steel line that activates the lift gate. It had previously been repaired not by me by welding a larger section of pipe over the 3/8" pipe. The pipe has two large right angle bends that prevent me from removing it to try to weld and the space is too tight for a rubber hose. Seems nobody in my town fabricates steel lines and I don't trust the compression fittings on an automotive brake line to stand the pressure of the gate opening and slamming shut. I've been trying to find a source of pipe online. What pressures should I be thinking about? (one McMaster Carr seamless steel pipe says it is good to 5400 psi ) do you think I could cut the piece out, put a 35* JIC connector with flare on each end to bridge the gap? Any suggestions about sources of supplies (they sell in long lengths and I only need a couple of feet)?
And of course, New Holland no longer makes this part.
