Does anyone know of a list list of troubleshooting codes anywhere on the Internet? I had the blinking <font color="orange"> light</font> this weekend and wondered what it meant since the tractor runs fine.
Thanks.

I am in the same boat. My information light is blinking. JD says that it may not mean something is wrong, just that the tractor may need some service eventually or something should be checked. Anyway, I would also like to know if there is a resource out there that will tell me what the codes mean.

The John Deere Technical Manual for the 4210, 4310, and 4410 has a section devoted to the (troubleshooting) Code Lights. I purchased the manual although it is a bit pricey, to say the least.

How much did your Tech manual cost and is it a hard copy or CD? For my F-Series truck the manual is on CD and $300, so i know they can be pricey.
The light that was blinking was the one on the right fender with all the switches. It was blinking one short, two longs, one short. Then repeat.

Hi,

You'd better sit down for this...the Technical Manual, which is very detailed about 830 pages cost around $145.00. I also purchased the parts manual for another $65.00, not including shipping. I opted for the soft cover manuals to use as working references, figuring I don't have a computer in my garage, so the CD-Rom was of no value to me. Call 1-800-522-7448 to place your order to John Deere.

What model and transmission type do you have? For the short and 2 longs and a short again, for the Ehydro the code is for MFWD signal sensor...as I read the manual, but I could be wrong.

Another great option for the Parts manual is JDparts You have to have a computer, but it is up to date at all times and you can even check dealers inventory.

Manuals sure are handy, too.

Short, long, long, short or .--. is indeed the fault code for the mfwd sensor . If you have cruise control it will not function. The flywheel speed sensor is also the same part # as the mfwd sensor. So in my opinion the flywheel speed sensor could possibly fail, Their is an internal wiring problem inside certain speed sensors. Deere has corrected the problem with a fix as fail . This doesnt mean that everybody with e-hydros has to worry, not everybody will experience this. contact your dealer. The kit consist of both the mfwd and flywheel sensors and take about 5 minutes to install.

Note that the MFWD sensor error can also appear without their being a problem present. If you depress a pedal with the gear lever in neutral, then this error will appear after about 5 seconds. It could also apper if under a heavy load the hydrostatic transmission goes over relief and you hold it that way for about 5 seconds. Basically, if the microcontroller doesn't see a certain gear move while a foot pedal is depressed, then it will flag this error after about 5 seconds of this condition.

If your cruise control works, then you don't have to worry about your sensor.

Thanks a bunch for the help/info! Looks like I'll be checking the cruise control operation this week.
Thanks again. This website is pure <font color="yellow">gold </font>

It merits suggesting that when you buy a product, especially if from a dealer, you should demand at least an owner's/operators manual, and a service manual if you can get it. They'll typically give you some push back about the service manual, because that is future business for them, but the salesperson may be inclined to do so to make a sale.

I am always amazed that guys will spend $20K plus for a tractor but cry when the manuals coast a couple hundred bucks. That was the first thing I bought after buying my BX. Has saved me thousands of dealer shop labor cost. Money in the bank.
