I need a new battery for one of my trucks. I've always used Interstate Batteries for both my trucks and tractors, and have had good luck with them, but someone told me recently that Walmart's own batteries are made by Interstate, and are exactly the same. I'm not above saving a few bucks, so does anyone know if that's true???

Thanks!!

There are only a couple battery makers in the US. Most batteries are made by those companies, and then labeled for the sellers.

FWIW, I have had great service from Optima red-top and yellow top. A little more expensive, but they last a long time...

I have been getting batteries for my diesel pickup at Sam's Club and the last set was labeled Interstate. I have been getting good service and the warranty is good. Since they are one and the same the batteries at Wal-Mart come from the same source. Let's face it, if you use the warranties we are just renting our batteries anyway.

I also use an Optima, but only because I plow and run warning lights with my Chevy. Consumer Reports did a test of various batteries within the past year. WalMart, Sears and Interstate all came in tops for specific applications. Pete

I have a Walmart battery in my car for the last 5 years and it was $39.88 when I purchased it. The one in my truck is 8 years old and it is a NAPA battery. I keep the terminals clean and tight and the battery is always secured in the holder. I believe that this is one of the things that makes a battery last longer. Either that, or I have just been lucky.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I believe that Walmart batteries are made by Johnson Controls. This is the same company that makes the Optima battery.

Youre just paying for a warranty from what im told.I would be afraid to have a battery that is 10 years old afraid the thing would die and I cant keep a reciept for 2 months let alone 10 years.
$29 specials work great and ive had them for 3-4 years easy.I have not kept a car past 4 years to know how long they really last.
Do like junk man says and use the hold downs other wise they will die from vibration and check the water every 6 months.

Just remember just because it is made by the same company does not mean it is the same quality. Remember Chevy made the Vega and the Corvette at the same time.
