Hi all,

Anyone have any recommendations for some really good, durable seatcovers for the new worktruck? It will see lots of mud and rock dust, so we need something durable, but it also has to commute over 100mi/day, so comfortable in hot weather is important. The neoprene ones seem about right, but I'm not sure how comfortable they'd be in the hot. I've looked at the Coverking and Saddleman/Elegant ones and they look good from the website pictures, but do they actually fit right and hold up?

Go get the cheapest that you can find and then replace them when they are wore out.

I won't mention brand name, but bought some "high end" seat covers for "water use" in my truck. Washed them per instructions, kept good care of them as I could, but they are still wearing out pretty bad even after 3 years of use.

After re reading your post, the neoprene covers were the ones I bought. Pain to take off and wash, then put back on. ANY objects that may have a "point" on them will tear them as well. If you use you truck hard, they will not last!

Sooner or later I might talk my wife into making some canvass (sp?) seat covers.

I have two recomendations...

1 - Old jeans. I have taken old Levi's and Wranglers, cut them up, and made a patch quilt cover(yes, I can sew.... with my son in Boy Scouts, I think that should be an Eagle Scout required merit badge...). Those held up really well.

2 - We have had great expierience with Wet Okolie covers. We have them in both trucks. I have been able to wipe them down in place. They would be a pain to clean if they have to come off; they fit the sets very snugly. Neighbor has them too, front and back of thier Excursion. They have been real happy with them too. I just wish I had got mine in Advantage Wetlands instead of the aqua camo.

In all cases though, I am careful to make sure I do not have pokey stuff in my back pockets. A friend redid his '66 Mustang years ago. He put all new upholstery in it, and then a week later poked a hole in a seat with a screwdriver in the back pocket...
