Truck

I hope that everyone involved is safe.

Did you get to see it happen or was it something like: Dad you know that tree you wanted me to cut down, well I got it all loaded up on the truck, accept....

It looks like you have the right attitude and your taking it in stride. Better the old truck than the PT.

Good luck.

Yep, everyone's safe but the truck.
It was very early in the hurricane. The chain saw cuts are because the trees that fell on the truck also blocked a road to a dock where several boats were at risk, so we cleared the logs crossing the road Thursday evening, before the height of the storm. By the next morning, it was again blocked by three more trees. I've not yet counted, but I think I lost five old red oaks, a couple of gums and poplars, and a bunch of branches. The only insured loss was the truck, but with a $500 deductible I think I owe the insurer. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Plenty of PT work over the next couple of months. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Charlie,
Sorry to hear about your damage from Isabel. I got lucky, the only thing is lost was power, finally got it back last night. One of my neighbors lost a nifty new Toyota in a similar manner to yours. Was up your way Sat. for the Navy game, but didn't go downtown. Saw some pretty horrendous pics of the Naval Academy yesterday on the net though. I'm guessing the midshipmen's store will be having a flood sale soon.

Scott:
We're still assessing the damage, but I think my only losses are the truck, trees, and maybe the lift motors on a couple of boat lifts. The storm surge was between 7 and 8 feet, so the Chesapeake Bay and my river, the Severn, floated a lot of boats off lifts, flooded buildings that have been dry for decades, etc. A lot of uninsured water damage, since most people in our area don't carry flood insurance.
There are pictures from Friday morning of boats running around next to the storefronts in downtown Annapolis.

Charlie - Just be glad it wasn't your PowerTrac under those trees. See attachment.

I think that picture came directly from a dream or two I had. About two hours after the trees came down, but well before the height of the storm - it was only blowing about 40 - I was ten feet from there with the 1845, dragging and pushing logs out of the road. There were still a couple of trees standing, so it was nervous work.

We unloaded the wood and just this morning I found the answer. On TV, they promised that for only $19.95 (plus shipping and handling) I can get a dent remover that will make it look like new. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Somehow, I think that will be just a leeeetle bit much for the 'Ding King'. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Glad you have a good sense of humor, Charlie! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Charlie, Are they gonna total it or are you still negotiating with your insurance company. I now know a good heavy equipment appraiser if you need one. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
