As tempting as it may be... I don't have time for buying and selling right now. Thanks, anyway... {the little gremlin in the back of my mind is talking too loud}

I was going to bring up another point, the tractor is almost like the tip of the iceberg when it comes to money... attachments/implements, extra hydraulics, Top-N-Tilt, grapple, etc. etc... make sure you have something left over to buy them so they make the tractor more useful.

100% agree. We have the $ to buy new with all of the implements but then that dips into the cabin budget. Assuming this L3800 hst pics this am are good & it's not beat up, we will quickly be able
To add a long 3rd function, wicked grapple, box blade, & tilt blade to complete the pckg. Then We'll be off & working on these projects so that we're ready to sow ground cover crops & some plants before Spring rains start.

On a side note, if you're not familiar with Hugelkulture beds & swales, check them out via google. Perfect use of some scrap trees that we have to improve the land.

I should know what's up some time after lunch appts

Ha, if you think we have enough ideas to spend your money on a tractor... Start a thread about building a cabin!!! :D

Good Luck today and don't forget, we love to see photos (and a conclusion!).

To me it came down to paying more for less features and specs so I had the Kubota name or going Mahindra. I went Mahindra since this size uses the proven Mitsubishi chassis and drivetrain and offered a better warranty. Plus, in my size, the EPA requirements were better planned and executed on the Mahindra.

Really, I look at most of the posts in all manufactures and I would have to say by far the most problems with tier IV engines are Mahindra. Granted they are fixing the problems with EGR's and several different re flash ( I believe they are on the third re flash). The others seem to have had less problems. I am not saying that they are bad, but I do think they rushed it out while others manufacturers did more testing. The whole DPF vs DOC is a non issue.

Yes really. Note the survey below. It seems most tractors are very close with regards to service etc.

this is the Kubota that i just looked at.. it has 256 hrs on it..said it was a 2012/13 model. what would make this type of scratches up the arms? it just had the hood & the display with meter replaced.. old meter has 245 hrs on it; i have a pic of it; its at a dealership thats been in business over 50 yrs. it had not been detailed or gone thru service yet..they're changing the oil and filter... said he'd inspect all of the hyd hoses and give it a once over... tires look to be 50% or less; he said prev owner owned 30 acres and used it only there; its definitely been used but for $13,500, should i care? i think i can get him to sweeten a bit further and install the quick attach for free to compensate the tires.. he started at almost $15k

I've completed negotiations on the Mahindra 2538 and very happy with the deal that I've worked out... new tractor, 6ft box blade, tilt blade, rotary cutter with slip clutch, tires loaded, & delivered from out of state so no sales tax - grand total of $23,288. Thoughts?

Now we need to figure out if buying the used for $13,500 plus finding the implements is the best deal or if we should jump on the new pckg with a 7 yr warranty...

decisions decisions...

For me,,,,, new versus used isn't the issue. Which one "fits" me is most important.

I like the cockpit of the Mahindra better especially the dual pedals. I also like the increased Strength of the loader & pto.

That said I like saving close to $5k once I buy implements & the resale value of the Bota once I'm ready to sell it.

Either will get the job done.

Remember, warranty is only good if the dealer AND manufacturer will honor it (a particular Mahindra concern). Also only what it covers. I think people might be surprised how limited that 7yr warranty is (true for all manufacturers).
