I was told that this was the best place to find info on a GroundHog tractor. Anyone out there know anything about them? GrandFather has one in barn, been there for thirty something years. Now he can't remember where he got it or anything about it. Doesn't remember much about anything now-a-days. Any info would be useful. Thanks

I gather you are getting the name off the machine, and can you come up with a serial # and/or name plate, possibly with an address or at least a city and state name? A picture maybe could be posted?
Someone maybe can help, but the name almost sounds like it is a nick name, or a model name for a particular brand. Any more information you can provide will help.

I suppose that you would call it a garden tractor. ?????

I have received from the Puget Sound Antique Tractor Assn. only that it was made in Detroit and the company was started in 1920 and a small sales flyer which really tells me nothing. So any help would be appreciated. Then someone else said that it is a groundhog built in Tacoma Wa sometime in the early 40s. Then again someone else says, It is a small machine similar to a Gibson, (whatever that is) with a one lung Briggs. Unfortunatly, info on this beast is rare to non-existent. The single cylinder Briggs is correct but I don't know what a Gibson is either. I did see one once a long time ago that looks simular to the Groundhog but I think that it was a Gravely or something like that. I don't know anything about Lawn & garden tractors but the next time that I am up at my Grandfathers I will try and get more info. Thanks....

Sounds like an Interesting old tractor. Any chance you could post a picture of it? Also you will find a few Yahoo groups, and clubs that are geared to old garden tractors. I found a lot of info on an old Homelite/Brody tractor I had as a kid. Good luck on your search. Are you planing to work ou, and use this tractor? The old stuff can be a lot of fun.

Gibson used to make a nice garden tractor. Haven't seen one in a store for years and years. Had all the brochures at one time but could not afford one. Otherwise I'd be able to give you information on it.
