Does anyone recommend a size for a rear blade on a TS1610? I am wondering if I should get a five foot or four foot blade. Also, what weight should I be looking for? Our local farm store sells five foot blades and the distance between the three point pins for the lower lift arms are 28 inches and it looks to me that I have a maximum of 22 inches to work with. Also, all the blades here (Idaho) are are heavy duty. These blades look too heavy for this little tractor. Should I look for light duty? Anyway, any advice and suggestions would be appreciated. Does anyone have a recomendation as to where to buy a rear blade for this tractor too? Thank you!

Emmett, you might want to take a look at a Woods Estate Series RBC60 rear blade. It's built for subcompact tractors. It's 5' and weighs around 220lbs I think. King Kutter also makes a rear blade for subcompact tractors called the XB Series. Both blades are supposed to fit Cat 0 and 1 hitches.

This tractor is a whole lot tougher than you're giving it credit for. I use a 6' King Kutter blade on my TS1610 with no problems at all. I use it to blade my driveway, and drag a lot of heavy dirt and gravel.

This little engine has a lot of torque. The tractor will sink and spin the rear wheels if you get into sand or dirt that's too deep.....but it won't bog the engine down.

You will have NO trouble using a 5' blade with it. Here's a pic of my setup...

The only drawback I have is that it makes the nose of the tractor a little light. A couple of 50lb barbells on the front solves that problem. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thank you very much. I figured out my problem. I need to reverse the tires to the "wide" position so that I have more room. I appreciate your advice.

A picture is worth a thousand words! I figured out my problem. I see that your wheels are reversed from what mine are. If I change them to this wider configuration by reversing the wheels (turning inside out), I will widen the wheel base and my problem is solved. I'm learning that all category 1 implements require a 26 inch span between the pins. The way my wheels are set up, I only have a maximum of 22 inches available before I have tire rub. I already bought a 5 foot king cutter blade ($259.00) at local farm store. I will check for width and possibly go with a 6 foot blade too. I thank you sincerely.

Can you post a picture and describe how you mount the 50lb weights to the front of your TS1610? I have a TS1910 and have been searching for the best method of mounting weights

Get the wider blade. Often the blade needs to be shift to the side AND angled so the effective width on the ground is quite a bit less than the width of the blade. With it angled it's usually nice to cover the footprint of the tractor.

Chetorba....I don't have any pics of them mounted, but I can tell you how. Just run a couple of bolts through the front part of the frame, right below the grill (where a loader would mount). Attach the weights to the bolts, use a large washer and nut. Bingo, you have a cheap (albeit ghetto) weighting system to hold the front of the tractor down.

Let me see if I can dig up any photos that will better describe it.

[edit]

OK, here's a pic that might help. The weights aren't attached, but you get the idea of how to run the bolts.

Hope this helps.
