TSC 30\" Dirt Scoop won\'t dump?

Just purchased a used TSC 30" Dirt Scoop. Mounted on a TC29D facing backward - backing into pile of dirt. Scoop won't dump easy from driver's seat. You have to let the scoop down to the ground to get the pressure off of the roller/bolt, trip the lever, then raise the lift to dump. It appears the trip lever is going too close to scoop pan which puts it over the top dead center of roller/bolt for dumping. Has anyone run into this problem before?? Any suggestions on how to correct?

Re: TSC 30\" Dirt Scoop won\'t dump?

They are all a bit hard to dump. You can file them a bit.. and even continually grease the area.

I started off by finding a creative way to route my trip rope so that it put good pressure onthe handle.

In the end, I used a small section of pipe that i slid ove rthe handle.. dumps with finger pressure at the end of that 3' pipe..... and yes.. mine is a KK from tsc.. 30"

Re: TSC 30\" Dirt Scoop won\'t dump?

I just bought the same dirt scoop last week.

Funny...I just thought that was the way they were supposed to work! Now that you mention it...it would be better to dump without lowering first to take pressure off that latch! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Soundguy, that is a great idea. I am going to try the pipe idea. Seems like the perfect enhancemant.

That is a solution that I would never have thought of, especially since I did not even see the original problem! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: TSC 30\" Dirt Scoop won\'t dump?

Bill, I added a piece of square tubing over my scoop handle. I drilled and pinned it to the standard (short) handle. My scoop is a Howse, but it seems to have exactly the same symptoms as the TSC KK scoop. I'm not sure yours is the same, but mine has an adjustment bolt that keeps the bucket from rotating too far and letting the latch get over-center. It's just a bolt through the fixed frame that stikes the bucket as it rotates back to level and doesn't let the bucket rotate quite so far.

I like Soundguy's idea of grinding/filing the latch so it's square edge is not as likely to interfere with the dump operation too.

Isn't it interesting how many tractor implements you have to "set up" or make adjustments to? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
