Want to know what you think about it? They're asking $349.00 on there web site. Is it worth looking at or should I buy something different? I'll be using it on a JD4410 in soft dirt(SHOULD be no big rocks)

Thanks Shawn

I have the JD4300 and I baught the tsc post hole digger. It isn't a complex piece of equipement and it did an excelent job on about 30 post. I would buy it again. If you are going to use it proffetionaly and dig like 10000 plus post, you may want to buck up.

Shawn,
That price at TSC may not include the auger. You may want to check that out.
Augers are an additional $110 or so depending on size.
Last year I got a Speeco PHD on sale at TSC for around $420 with 12" auger.

I've got the TSC Speeco PHD with 9" and 12" bits. Been through about 100 holes with it last year, and used it on 2 different tractors. I have absolutely no complaints, it has dug through sand, loam and clay without problems. I have not tried rocky soil, and I really hope that I don't ever find that on my property.

For a homeowner working on his own property it is built heavy enough, but I think if I was a commercial user (contractor, fence installer, landscaper) I would pony up the big buck an buy a heavy duty unit.

I've got one from there with a 9" & 12" augers. I've only done 50 or so holes and am quite satisfied with it. I haven't used it yet on my newer tractor, the TC18, but we'll see in a few weeks how it does.

I'd be interested to hear from some folks who have rocky soil... what do you use? I need a post hole digger, but man oh man have I got the rocky stuff around. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks,

Alaskanjdeere, I am looking for the same thing and also live in Alaska (Wasilla). I get the same sort of estimates from local tractors dealers, mostly around $1,000 to $1200. When I have priced PHD's from the lower 48 it sounds great until I get around to the shipping costs. Got any suggestions to lower that part of the equation??
