I am looking to buy a rear blade, I really only want it for clearing snow off my 2 asphalt driveways, then push the piles back with the loader. Both driveways are in good condition and have no big cracks or loose asphalt for the blade to catch on. So I dont see the need for a plow with trip springs. Are the rear blades sold at tractor supply any good, and will they last a decent amount of time after alot of snow work and the occasional grading of dirt areas? I get a decent amount of snow where I live so it will be getting used alot in the winter months. Also anyone who uses a rear blade for snow removal how well do they work? does the snow roll off of them like it would a regular plow? and how much do the cutting edges wear on asphalt? Any help would be great thanks. Chris

I have a BX 2350, similar size to your deere, have used the TSC rear blade for 2 years in michigan winters. I got the standard model and not the xb blade. the xb is lighter and a few inches shorter in height. Plus the blade is heavier. I use the blade to move snow with the cutting curve side facing away from the snow to move. This prevents digging in and works great. Have also leveled/move many yards of dirt and gravel with good results :)

For just snow and light dirt grading you should be fine. The cutting edge will leave marks on the asphalt so I would reccomend a set of skid shoes. There are some on here that have put a hard rubber piece over there cutting edge to scrap the snow without destroying their asphalt or lawn.
Depending on the type of snow it will roll off like a truck plow but most of the time it will just build up and push/pull the snow along. Depending on how deep the snow is it very rarely goes over the plow.
I have had many years of experience in using a rear blade and now that I have the rear snowblower I dont miss it. But the blade is much better than using just the loader.
