TSC Store Coming to Town, NOW WHAT??

That's the big problem I've seen... ignorant and apathetic help.

My closest store hires a different teenager every month or so to work in the feed/implement section. My right pinky finger knows more about their merchandise than most of their help does...

A loud agreement on the poor help. Not enough people in the store. Usually a semi-manager, who sort of knows what is what, running the service desk, but hates to come out and actually help someone. A teenager to lug the feed bags and load the fencing material, all by himself, with two or three people waiting, and he obviously hates doing it. And, the poor girl at the register, with 15 people in line, and she has no idea what to enter for the product (we settled on white-vinyl-covered-stainless-steel-wire for my GTO gate opener low voltage wire, because it was pretty near the same price. I bet that drives the inventory contol folks wild).

I find what I want, lug it to the register, and wish they would install some of those self-checkouts like Wally World. If I have to depend on one of the employees, I can figure to add 30-45 minutes to the trip.

We have a TSC in Marietta Ohio and a new one is opening about 6 mile from my home in WVa. Great stores, lots of merchandise that is farm/hardware related. They sell clothes as well. The ones in my area are truly a farm supply store. The help at ours is good. The one store use to be " Farm and Fleet" then Tractor Supply took over and it was a great improvement. I really like the stores.

53,000 sq. ft. is a pretty good size store plus it has a huge parking lot for outside displays. I just can not wait to check out all the neat stuff they will have. I just hope it is not one of those signs they put up get your hopes up and then it never happens for one reason or another, guess time will tell. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

TSC's prices on livestock supplies are hard to beat. I buy all of my fencing supplies there, as I've never found them cheaper anywhere else; Red Brand fencing, T-posts, electric fence chargers and supplies, etc. Also stock tanks, livestock buckets and such are cheaper there than anywhere. Their feeds aren't too good though.

We go there at least every other week, sometimes once a week or more for livestock supplies, tractor supplies and implements and even hardware. Two weeks ago, we had a severe thunderstorm, and we were out of power for two days, which is extremely rare by us. I've been putting off buying a generator to run my milking equipment, but I had to bite the bullet and get one right away at TSC. They had exactly what I was looking for, and at a better price than Home Depot or Lowes.

If you're a livestock farmer, like I am, having a TSC nearby can save you money, and even be a lifesaver in an emergency. They're open much longer hours than local feed stores, and when you need something fast, they usually have it.

We have a good TSC in Auburn, with good staff. They looked at the PHD I broke and practically rebuilt it for me (told me what I did wrong, disassembled it, went through the store looking for replacement parts and told me how to put it back together). They never give me a hard time about picking through the fence posts looking for good ones, they have added horse feeds at customer's requests and have helped my wife load stuff on the truck.

My only complaint is that they would not let me register for my wedding /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Consider yourself fortunate. (About the good TSC Store. The getting married, I'll defer judgement on...)

Not alll the TSC chain is so well run and/or customer friendly as yours.

The one nearest to my home is anything BUT well run. They never re-stock items when they sell out, The manager knows NOTHING about what he sells. He obviously feels threatened by any employees that DO KNOW about their products. They never last long...They've got a lock on the business in this area. "Urban sprawl" has taken out all the old farm supply stores in the area.

I'm currently looking at a piece of "investment property" near the house. It has a 32,000 sq. ft. commercial store-front building on it. The thought is passing through my little brain to buy the place, then open up a REAL farm supply/horse supply/hardware store. I've got just enough "Mr. Haney" in me to make a go of a place like that, I believe! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Tractor Supply is one of the few places I like to go. I buy my catfish food there, have bought 3-point implements such as fertilizer spreader, PHD, and tiller there. Bought a water pump and various tools there. Mrs. Alan L. buys bird seed and bird feeders there. I bought a big pair of warm coveralls there, for going to cold football games in November and early December. Work gloves, screws and bolts, tire sealant, steering wheel ball, rain guage, huge shop fan. Deer corn. Mrs. Alan L. bought 3 ducklings there. I see where now they carry Nutro dog food which is the brand we feed our dogs.

I have two within 30 miles and like both of them. One is next to Sam's Wholesale, another store I like.

You sound like me.I can get everything I need at Tractor Supply/Walmart/AutoZone/Home Depot/Lowes and my John Deere dealership. I rarely go to the malls any more. I have not been to our local mall for a couple of years. The older I get the less I care about going to malls etc unless I need to step into a Sears store to get some new tools or return a broken ratchet etc.
It looks like malls are becoming less popular and the " strip malls" are becoming the new trend in my area.

In my area they demolished a mall and put in streets with parking and stores. Kind of reminds me of my home town “downtown” back in Iowa. Looks like we have come full circle to what worked 50 years ago /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
