Good post.

I think we need more post of stolen items. Can be difficult to determine if used equipment is stolen before you buy it.

I'm a member of TSCRA. Special Ranger Larry Hand is investigating the theft of my Kubota RTVX-1100C from my shop. It appeared in the Crime Watch a few weeks ago.

Good post.

I think we need more post of stolen items. Can be difficult to determine if used equipment is stolen before you buy it.

Texas DPS had a real good program where you could register your equipment and LE could check suspicious equipment and if it was yours and you had entered it in the database they would have access to your contact information. It was a very proactive program.

Today was exactly three weeks. So far no leads. Probably in Mexico by now.

I wish the police would do more theft stings. Some cities have a real issue with bike thefts. There are no locking systems that can't be defeated if given enough time. They can leave a nice item in a high theft area with a hidden GPS tracker. They are notified once it starts moving and bust them.

Word gets out and the theft rate drops. Also, we have to do our part buy not buying super good deals. Not sure how but, ask for the serial number?

Here, often stolen stuff is discovered and for one reason or another cannot be returned to the owners. Maybe found on a RES.. In one case, a JD dealer had been broken into. Mechanics personal tools stolen, and after the trial, there was some reason that the tools could not be returned.

In this country, crime does in fact pay quite well. Just ask the politicians.

Industrial Toys,

I had my home under construction burgled, a bunch of tools taken. Shady neighbor was found with SOME of my tools in his truck, ID'ed by serial numbers. All he had to say was "bought them from some dude" Sheriff let him go!! I got them back but was less than 10% of what was lost. I would have gladly got nothing back if he had just been charged and had to pay a lawyer $2000 to say all the excuses for having stolen goods.

Here, he probably would have gotten legal aid paid for by the victims of the crime!

But? How can anyone prove that something was stolen? You could sell your marked tools, and then claim they were stolen. You might or might not even have been burglarized. I mean, it would be a coincidence that your neighbor bought your marked tools. But if a thief was sharp or did have a good lawyer, the prosecuter might not even bother spending the money and resources to try the case.
