TSP to clean out diesel tractor tank!!

Hey,

We are swapping a new fuel tank into a Tractor. ( MF35, 3 cyl Perky. ) The tank we are going to swap in is a used one that has sat around for a while. I would like to clean it out myself, but don't know what to use. Someone told me that TSP will do the job well, and I was wondering what you folks on here thought. Should I rinse it out with diesel after, just to make sure NO TSP is in the tank?

My gut tells me it is a bad idea. But call the manufacturer.

Suggest you take it to a radiator shop. They can boil it and then you can coat the inside with an epoxy lining. If you "guess" you'll probablly end up sorry you did once its on the tractor. BobG in VA

If you want to seal the inside of the fuel tank I highly recommend the products that this company makes tank sealant

This is the same company that makes "paint over rust" epoxy. I have used the POR-15 paint and it works very well, just don't let any of it dry on your skin cause nothing will take it off once cured. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
