I am curious what the box that is connected to the back side of the clutch is for? Is it a wet clutch system? It has a plug on top to add fluid, and bolt on the bottom to drain and a bolt on the side, that I am guessing is to check the level of fluid! Also what type of fluid do you add to it?

Pictures?? size?? Is it on the clutch itself inside the housing or outside the housing?

I'm wondering if he is referring to the steering box?

Sorry, it is mounted on the rear of the clutch out side of the housing. In Kern's picture on the floor under the steering wheel column you accesses the filler hole through that big access hole. Not that I am always right but I do believe it is part of the clutch. Does this help?

I am at a loss for what it is. Looking closer at the pic, it appears to be sitting behind the steering box if the "box" sits directly below the hole in the plastic cowl. I really doubt that your tractor has a wet clutch so I would rule that out. Isekis have a lot of features but I have never heard of one with a hydraulic clutch so I would not think it was for a master cylinder either. I don't know if the 180 has power steering but the power steering reservoirs are under the hood on the other Isekis that I've seen.

The only thing I know to tell you is to try to trace where any lines go to give you a clue what it is for or if it might even actually be mounted on the transmission case. Can you tell if it is hydraulic/trans fluid inside the box? Does the "plug" have a dip stick or O-ring on it....is it metal or plastic? I assume from your description that the "drain bolt" is on the lower side of this box and not on the underside of the tractor....is that correct?

It smells like gear oil, the fill plug is rubber no dipstick, and the drain bolt is under tractor but there is another plug bolt on the side which i am guessing is to tell when you have enough fluid in it. I don't see any lines coming from it. Like a truck motor your transmission is attached to the block. This is what it looks like on my tractor, but what I thought was a box on the back end of it is actually the whole one piece bell housing with the drive shaft coming out the back going into the transmission under the seat. First picture is what I believe the bolt removed to tell if it is full. Third picture is showing rubber plug where you would fill it. Looking at it now in all my infinite wisdom could it be a small gear box? Sorry about the bad descriptions i am giving!

Wow, I'm really at a total loss here....this is definitely one for the Iseki gurus....come on Reed, time to step up. I have never seen an arrangement like this. I've only owned some older models w/o the bells and whistles.

I am really speculating on this now but could it possibly be a forward/reverse trans since it appears like your machine has a shuttle shift arrangement of some type? I'm really just clueless on this. Surely Buck, Len or someone has owned or worked on one of these and can enlighten us.

I am so ready to pull my hair out!!! :) I have two separate levers for gear selection that both connect to the gear box directly under the seat. Sitting in the seat they are on my left side. The lower one by my left knee is h pattern R,1,2,3 and the other one located left side by my hip is also h pattern 1,2,3,4

How do you operate a shuttle shift? The reason I think it may be a small gear box now, I am wondering if the shaft out of the clutch was to high so they put the little gear box in to drop down to the height of the shaft going into the gear box under the seat???

Bingo, we have a winner. There is a small shaft between the box you describe and the transmission in the rear of the tractor. All the TU models I have had used that system.

So are you saying that it is a small gear box on the back end of the bell housing? And if so what fluid do you put in there?
