I removed a dead tree & stump next to a shed a couple weeks ago and planted 50 from Holland Bulb Co. using my Grandmother's bulb planter...no big deal.
Then I pulled the trigger ordering 1,000 from Holland Bulb. I chose an area and thought rows would look better curved. So I dug about 8" down thinking I could plant with tool then cover back with the loader bucket.
Don't do that.
What I did at last is simply use the backhoe bucket, teeth down, and sweep across. All I had do was roll tractor forward 8" each sweep then lay bulbs 6" apart in the slot, instead of a palm blister and trying to dump clay back evenly. I put compost, lime, 10-10-10 & pine needles down.
I'll post pictures after Chiropractor visits are over.

Yea,I'm sure you got the idea of curved rows long before you decided to make rows with the hoe. 😅 😇

I did start with curved rows & wife helped. After 36 bulbs she quit saying good luck!
It would have been so easy, just mower deck lowest in that area, sweep in grooves with backhoe.
1,000 bulbs is a lot!

We have lots of skunks that dig holes all over...hope they don't like tulips or this could be me. I had it happen once & that's enough.
