Tundra or Silverado/Sierra?

I had an 07 Tundra DC 4x4 with the 5.7, great truck. I now have an 11, same truck with the exception being I now have a bench up front, which I find much better than the buckets. Mileage on both of them has been right around 12 give or take. Mpg aside they are awesome trucks with a phenomenal drivetrain! Heck, I still have a little 94 Toyota 4x4 regular cab pickup with a 2.4 that I'll probably never part with.

I don't get the mileage thing. When it's warm, my 2005 Tundra 4 door with small V8 gets 17-18 in the city and 19-20-21 on the open road. My 2011 4 door extended cab gets 16-17 in town and around 18 on the open road. All empty.

I have had two Rams......I now switched to GMC Sierra 5.3 L 4x4 double cab...........I tow my 5000 lbs of tractor and trailer and attachments no problem, it gets great MPG and no problems for the first six months so far. Very good ride and interior and quiet cab. Considering what you mentioned you are towing, you could probably even go down to the 6 cylinder and gain a couple more mpg .

my friend has a tundra, but he calls me to move his camper/rv with my silverado. he says the tundra is abut 1/2 the towing capacity of my silverado.

My 2011 Tundra is rated at 9,600 towing capacity.

He must have bought the wrong truck for his needs. The Tundra is on par in the towing dept for 1/2 ton trucks.

You are talking on two different subjects. The Tundra is a 1/2 ton and your Silverado is obviously a 1 Ton Diesel Dually to have those numbers.

Like I said, your friend bought the wrong truck for his needs. The Tundra is a very capable truck upto its limits.
