tundra owners roll call

Don't own a Tundra, though I had a Tacoma for 12 years, but my daughter's boyfriend drives a black Tundra Rock Warrior with aftermarket wheels, tires and a leveling kit. Man that is one sweet looking truck. Also gotta say, I don't think he's put anything but his dog in the bed given he lives in downtown Boston. Almost told him to let me know first if he ever decides to trade it in or sell it. :licking:

any truth to this? as this is my biggest concern not that i would break the frame but how bad it looks when you are hauling.

I did a lot of research on the Tundra before I took the plunge. If my memory serves me correct, Toyota answers the Ford F-150 commercial about frame strength. I don't have time to find the link but it should be on Youtube when Toyota gave a few Tundras to a ranch to use for 100k miles. These guys had cattle trailers hooked to 1/2 pickups.

I only have 233 miles on my Tundra, but then again I just got it last Saturday. It's a '14 regular cab, long bed, 4wd, with the 5.7L, base trim level. I hope it ends up be as good as ya'll say they are. So far I like it. I hadn't even considered a regular cab but early in the year I visited a dealer and since they had one on the lot I decided to look at it. I was surprised at the room behind the seats -- nothing like my dad's Sierra 1500. I think there's as much total storage volume behind the seats in this regular cab as I had in my extended cab S-10.

I have an '07 5.7 DC with 92k miles on it that I bought new. My #2 son as an '02 4.7 AC with 142k miles that he bought used. Both are SR5's with the factory tow package.

I have an '07 DC 8' bed SR5 4x4 5.7l & Max Tow. I tow a tractor with it. Anything over 4k I use a WD hitch, so I have never noticed the 'frame bend'. I made this purchase based on price, capability, room in the back seat.

I really wanted a diesel, however I could not justify the cost.

The biggest problem with mileage is my right foot. It is hard to keep it off the floor.

This truck is not perfect, but it can do what is claimed.

The axles are heavy, the paint is not. The rest of the drive line is heavy enough to handle the strain of towing.

Being one of the first 5000 built, I have had a couple of issues.

Electric smog pumps failed at 40k, warranty fixed.
Front diff malfunctioned around the same time, warranty fixed.
Lost my floor mats & good throttle due to the stuck accelerator pedal hysteria, thanks to the government & all of you that think that you need three sets of floor mats piled high in your vehicle.

Sorry, that one still ticks me off.

One set of rear axle bearings at 80k. Toyota's vendor resigned these, I found the new ones. Mikeeemo paid that bill.
Brakes.
Oil changes.
Trans fluid changes. For all of you that are going to argue that point, look up the cost of the trans vs fluid every 30k for the life of the truck.

I have never seen a piece of equipment with lubrication failure that was over serviced. Oil and grease are still cheaper than parts.

All in all a good truck.

I would like to see a one ton version. I don't care if it is gas or diesel.

Oh yeah, I tow at 60-65mph and can get 11-13 mpg. The transmission is in tow/haul mode with the shifter in drive.
The salesman told me to haul in manual mode which automatically deselects the 5/6 overdrive and deactivates the transmission programming, that got me 8 mpg on the first trip. I reread the manual and changed the setup to just engage the tow/haul, that solved the poor mileage.

I had a 2011 Tundra Double Cab 4x4 with the 4.6L V8, was a great truck even with the smaller engine. My Toyota Dealer made me a deal I could not refuse back in August on a 2013 Tundra TRD Rock Warrior Edition with the 5.7L, I have owned a lot of Ford's and Chevy's over the years and the Tundra's are hands down my favorite trucks. Here is my current Tundra, once I get my new 20 ft dovetail trailer she will be pulling my Kubota:

No pics ,but I have an 07 TRD 5.7. double/crew cab. Plenty of room in the rear. More room than my 07 ram crew cab Usually take the tundra on vacations because of the room
