Turf (R3) tires better in snow - but why?

You know, with the $$$$ required to go from R-1's to R-4's,( new tires + new rims ) or whatever, on your tractor - for more efficient snow plowing. Unless I went commercial with snow plowing and it was just for on my property - a good heavy duty set of tractor chains is probably the most efficient in both cost and workability that a fellow can have.

Yes - they can be a PITA to instal - for sure they do not smooth the tractors ride - but for traction - they are next to impossible to beat.
