Turfs in the woods?

I run turfs but w/tire chains,and pretty darn well when draging rake etc..just be careful when travel on smooth rock surface.

I'm getting some really good input here, and I appreciate it. Loaded, or unloaded? I should have asked that with the original question.

I would load any tire if I anticipated a lot of FEL work for stability reasons. I load my tires for FEL work as well as for traction and stability on my slope when rotary cutting, and increased traction when using my ground engaging attachments. Jay

R4's on the TC18 were loaded, turfs were not

Turfs on the B3030 are loaded.

I do a lot of trail work with my turf tires and have no problems. I do avoid running over small sapplings that have been cut off a couple of inches in length. I'm sure they'd puncture the tires. With regard to loading the tires. I haven't done that and I have never regretted it. If you load them you can't use slime as a puncture cure.

My tractor has turfs. It does get used in the woods, for moving snow in town and as a toy tractor on the farm. I have chains for all four wheels. These get used in the winter and during mud season.

Sapling stube may be hard on any make of tire.

Take the cowards way out -- run Ags! I have used Ags on my B7100 and now have them on the DX29. Lots of woods use on both, never a problem. On the other hand, I made a trail in hilly mature woods with a Cadet 109 running turfs and rear wheel drive without much problem, either. Just pick your path carefully.
