Turfs on front, Insdustrials on rear?????

This not entirely true. There is a huge difference between turfs and other tires. In my case turfs vs. 3 rib. The flat turfs did little or no damage to my yard on a tight quick turn. The 3 ribs wil tear it up every turn and I had to change the way I mowed.

On the other hand not having a 4wd, the 3 ribs are much easier to turn than the flat turfs. It felt like I got power steering after putting them on.

Three ribs are probably the worst there is as far as turning damage

You can tear up grass as easily with turfs as with R4s.
1*It isn't about tread pattern, it IS about sharp turns on wet/soft grass.
2*Try it, it isn't even about 4WD - unless you turn too sharply on wet/soft turf.
1* and 2*It's really about trying to drive on surfaces that are to wet and soft.

No "HUGE DIFFERENCE" between the 17.5L24 R4s and 18.00x44x20 rears on mine.
I forgot the dimensions of the front ones, but when I bought the turfs I checked out front and rear rolling circumference of both the R4s that I had (still have) and the turfs.
They were VERY close in both rolling circumference and width.
About the only difference is the "print" that the turfs put down, they have a higher percentage of tread on the ground and less gap between lugs.
They're lighter by about 550 or so lbs per tire too, which makes a slight difference.
3 to 5% lead is desirable, any amount of lag is very undesirable.

Sure , all these thread turn into a 'discusion' about the pros and cons of the two different treads. There is a poster who usually posts a picture of a cartoon guy eating popcorn..

Phyxer,
There shouldn't be any problem with what you are wanting to do. You are well aware of the 4wd issue associated with doing this. Once you get the new turfs you will be able to check the tire diameters and see if it will be a problem or not. I completely understand why you are wanting to do this as well. I have mowed for 6 years with my old B7200 with turfs and never had a problem tearing up the lawn. I have been mowing with my B2620 for almost a year now and have torn up the lawn every time. This has been my only dissapointment with the tractor (really I guess just the tires). I am trying to remind myself not to turn sharp, but it is not so practicle. One of the reasons I don't mind using these tractors to mow with is they are so manueverable (turn sharp). Once things get settled down at my place I may have to see about doing the same. It is not conducive to my current chores to be changing tires when I mow though.

Let me know what you find out when you get the turfs.:)
