Turkey Season in the south

I am very envious of anyone who gets to see wild turkeys running across their property!
For Turkey lovers, I highly recommend a book by Joe Hutto, "Illumination in the Flatwoods." 10 or 12 turkeys were imprinted to him when they hatched and the story is about him raising them to adulthood. You will get a new respect and perspective about wild turkeys after reading the book.

I was in Nebraska (knox county) late last week and bagged two nice Toms with the Bow, turkeys were pretty vocal and responding to calls for the most part, the afternoons got really hot 80 degrees on Saturday and we left Sunday morning and it was nearly 80 degrees by noon, makes for kind of a miserable afternoon in the blind when it's that warm.

Pretty warm for that country this time of year isn't it? Seems the activity has been way earlier than normal.

It was 92 degrees where I was hunting on Saturday. Talk about miserable. I was soaked after hunting. You know how it is hunting turkeys, head to toe camo equals HOT.

Here in MS we are pushing record highs daily. It does make for miserable hunting but it beats working

I put on bug spray AND use a Thermacell mosquito repeller. The Thermacell works great once you're set up and calling.
