I have a 2006 Farm Trac 665DTC, shuttle shift, 12 speed.
The switch has started clicking several times before it actually engages and cranks. By clicking I mean you must turn the key to the start posiion several times before it will engage and start.
Would someone educate me on possibilities and ways to check?
Thanks

My first step would be to redo all 4 points of your high amp leads. Period. Even if they looked good.

If that didn't do it, I'd move to your key switch connections.

clean and tighten battery connections first, be sure battery cables are clean and tight on starter and ground, check wire connections at key switch and starter solinoid.
With the tractor out of gear you can use a jumper wire direct from the battery to the switch terminal on the solinoid, if the problem goes away, that indicates a switch/wiring issue, if the problem still exists, solinoid or starter are suspect.

If you try this, make sure its in nuetral or you may run yourself over with the tractor.

Normally, in cars, this is a symptom of a problem with the contacts inside the starter. Partiularly Japanese cars with the little gear reduction starters.

This explains it on a Toyota: Starter Contact Repair
