Turn Your Baler into a Wood Splitter - If You Dare

All that "safety" stuff is for people who don't respect the equipment.

There are thousands of people who use "wood splitting screws" that are now outlawed in the USA because some people didn't respect the equipment.

I don't substitute dollars for common sense, EVER, it will kill you.

There is no common sense building something inherently dangerous then counting on common sense to protect you. The baler splitter isn't even saving a worthwhile amount of $$$ over a hydraulic splitter that stops when you let go of the control handle.

Nah. All that "stupid safety stuff" is for the smart people who understand the laws of physics and have met that bastard Murphy.

Not everything goes perfectly as planned through multiple cords of wood, and not having the ability to stop a splitter which is directly coupled to a pto is just absurdly 1900's primitive.

It's the 21st century, and we have learned what not to do from out maimed ancestors.

Relax guys... just another way to clean out the gene pool. *grin*

Looks like something Jigsaw would come up with... "Hello I want to play a game... you have 60 seconds to split firewood and find the key..."

Wow, I kind of liked that baler splitter, but that wheel of death is just crazy!

What if the head of the maul came of?!....it could come right at the person!!!

Hydraulic log splitters are death traps too. They should have TWO valves in series, ten feet away from the ram, four feet apart so that you have to hold your arms out and operate them at the same time. And the levers should be covered by gravity operated shields. And there should be a foot pedal. Also the ram/splitting area should be enclosed in a safety cell with a door that has a switch in it too, such that the ram cannot be operated with the door open. And it should only be operated on clean, level shop floors with anti-slip treatment. It should have sensors that shut the whole thing down if it detects a log lying on the ground (trip hazard) within twenty feet. Oh... and the operator has to blow through a breathalyzer before each split.
