Used ones similar to the video seem to run $5-1000.

Agreed, but isn't the latest and greatest always most desirable since it's shiny and new? Seems to mostly be the world we live in.

Personally I loved seeing that old piece of hardware all covered in dust operating flawlessly like brand new and if I were eccentric enough to have one I would prefer one of the old ones versus one of the new ones (except for how Ted kept mentioning how it could roll over under load). The higher ratings of the newer ones tends to make me think it is less risk or the risk is better mitigated by being farther away from the action. Honestly unless you are going to rate and tune tractors for a living like Ted has done in the past, having such a machine no matter the cost borders on silly.

I'm with you on that one...I think having an old piece like that would be cool!

Oh believe me before I broke the seals I would have done every bit of research possible both on the net and in libraries plus picking the brains of some real practicing diesel mechanics. I'm on the low end of the JD 50xxE series so I can probably get quite a bit more if I found I needed it. One thing I would do is look at the parts list of the various power levels to see when they change the turbo parts or if they do at all. Pumping in more fuel won't work if there is not enough air to mix with it.

Everything but the tuned pressure on your injectors, and the pressure on your pump is the exact same as my 65hp engine, and the 75hp above it. The 75 has an intercooler as well.

The rear end housing on the 5075e is bigger, so that's something to be aware of.

Cool video. It was neat to see how a PTO dyno works. 107hp without smoke is impressive.

This is a violation of the EPA certification on the tractor. No different than removing a catalytic converter on your truck. Now if you happen to think our government has no business under our vehicles - tune away! Just be warned that there's a big brother out there who might take issue with dialing up the fuel.

But its an eddy-current style which excels at part-throttle response rather than steady state like cheaper dynos. :D

When we tried discussing modding the Kioti NX series a couple of weeks ago, a moderator deleted our discussion because tampering with emissions equipment is bad here on tractorbynet.

Most of us participating face palmed. :confused3:

Seems from another discussion that comes up occasionally they need to moderate who they're using to cycle ads on the site a little better. Ads propagating viruses, discussions being deleted, don't sound like it's as friendly of a place as the people who frequent it.

So.... The basic rule of thumb is crank it up till it smokes, then back off a bit?

I don't think it would be that easy on Tier 4 tractors that are controlled by an ECU.

I could be wrong, but I've seen nothing to indicate I am... If I'm right it's not a lot different than putting high flow injectors and a cold air intake on your new Mustang GT or similar, there is a lot you can do before an PCM flash is needed (cars use a powertrain control module rather than a simple ECU (engine control unit) like our diesel tractors). The ECU should adjust to a point. The ECU's job is to monitor emissions and make minor adjustments to keep it burning clean and throw a light on the dash when it isn't. A small increase in fuel on a mechanical fuel pump should still yield the same results even with tier4, but larger increases may not be possible as it could create warnings within the emissions system. Only time the ECU should be an issue is if trying to turn out large increases (same as the mustang analogy above). As far as I've seen, the tier4 tractors still all have mechanical fuel pumps that manage the fuel flow and timing...
