My wife and kids met Roy at his shop. He spent quite a bit of time talking with them and showing them tools. Best of all he did not cut himself!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I "found" the Fox Fire books back in the 80's and read quite a few of them. They really are a treasure trove of information, and at this point, an historical record of how people used to live, work and survive. One of the books had stories about panthers/cougars/painters one of which was discussing a path along a creek that goes up to a gap. A year or so after reading the book and story, I was walking up that trail, along that creek, up to that gap and I could not help but think about being stalked by a panther/cougar/painter.:laughing::laughing:

Funny enough, once that trail gets to the gap, it hits the AT. So I followed the AT for awhile and the followed another trail back to camp. By the time I got to the trail heading to camp it was getting dark and I really was thinking about panthers/cougars/painters along with wondering if that big momma bear I had seen the previous day was still hanging around with her cubs.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Lol Dan, that is great! Its funny how our minds can play tricks on us. I bet every noise, crack of a branch had you thinking :)

Peter Follensbee who has been on Roy's show a few times was telling me about the time he was with Roy ready to do his show and they did a dry run to see what is covered. Once Roy starts taping there is no stopping its just one run though. Well Roy kept putting his thumb too close to Peters maul and Wham! he got wacked. During the episode he(Roy) has his hand out of sight in a bucket of ice. The show must go on. He had a really cool one handed saw that was made after the civil war so that veterans who lost an arm could buck up a log, this saw actually had a cam and was able to tilt so you could actually fell a tree with only one hand. Really long 6-7' blade on it too.

Every puff of wind I heard was the exhale of a cougar or the momma bear about to pounce on my back!:laughing::laughing::laughing: Pretty sure it was on the same hike, and when I got to the gap, clouds were blowing through like water from a hose which was very cool to see. Eventually, I was walking in the cloud/fog so everything was in black and white. Very surreal and pretty. The freaky thing was the way the trees and bushes formed a large "tunnel" over the trail and the fog made it look like a scene out of one of the Count Dracula movies from the 30's!:eek::laughing::laughing::laughing:

So I got chased by cougars/panthers/painters, then by Dracula, and finally back to cougars/panthers/painters AND momma bear! Tis a wonder I made it back to camp alive!:laughing::laughing:

I think I just saw the show where Roy gets his thumb whacked. Roy really has paid for the who in pain. :D He makes me nervous to watch sometimes. :D:D:D
