To go along with the themed threads for movies and books...

Everyone has their own opinions on what they find worthwhile (or not) entertainment wise...The COVID pandemic has expanded the time many of have to sit and watch beyond the norm...

Personally my partial list of best TV shows and a few I can't stand are as follows...(excluding most sitcoms etc...)

The best:

Breaking Bad
Fargo
Justified
Longmire
Bosch
Deadwood
Better Call Saul
Goliath

Tolerable:

Game of Thrones
Yellowstone
The Sopranos
House of Cards

Horrible:

Grey's Anatomy

Those that I used to think as only tolerable have moved up my list thanks to Netflix & Amazon. No commercials  Turn on auto start the next episode and the ability to skip intro & credits and they are even better.

I like Longmire, Justified and Yellowstone. A couple of my favorites, Boston Legal and Blacklist, have pretty much self destructed when by moving from great writing to PC trivia. I also was a big NCIS fan until it changed the same way, plus their focus from intrigue to personalities (sigh...I miss Ziva) put them in the crapper.

Writers do run out of ideas and sometimes producers hate giving up cash cows...
After all it is said in all the world there are really only seven basic plots and they can only be taken so far...

Only things I watch is football on Fox and ABC and CBS on Saturday, AFV and old Columbo movies.

Nothing else is worth squat or worth enduring commercials over.

Ziva was irreplaceable. I thought Kate was until Ziva, but Bishop just does not fit IMHO.

I still like NCIS (the original with Gibbs, LA somewhat, New Orleans not at all), but I agree it's getting a bit long in the tooth, but what do you expect after 16 seasons...they're bound to run out of ideas. Kate was good (also liked Sasha Alexander's character in Rizzoli & Isles) as was Ziva early on, didn't care for her when she returned last season. Was really glad to see Abby go, she was annoying. Like Michael Weatherly better as Bull than when he was Tony.
Bishop's OK, though I liked her better early on when she was kind of quirky. They seem to have written all of that out of her character now.

Wife liked Boston Legal, I tolerated it, again agree that it went downhill after the first couple seasons. Didn't care for James Spader's character in either BL or Blacklist.

Other shows I like (in no particular order): House MD, Without A Trace, Bones, Leverage, and all of the CSI series. Castle was good the first few seasons, but it also kind of overstayed it's welcome. Wife likes Murdoch Mysteries, but that one too has kind of run out of ideas past couple seasons. Raising Hope was kind of stupid, but it was funny.
I used to like the Amazing Race, but the current season is a bit of a turnoff. It used to be the one "reality" show where there was a minimum of inter-team sniping and backstabbing but apparently the producers are trying to make it another Big Brother.

Don't think I've ever seen any of the shows Pine mentioned, haven't even heard of some of them.

Yeah, Abby's character was contrived and unrealistic...her replacement is even worse. I spent 16 years working in an industrial research facility, first as a microbiological technician and later as a research chemist...and believe me, I have never seen any one of any age or sex that was even remotely like these two...and it's nice to see them do a two or three day analysis in an hour with all kinds of definitive results.

Stayed up til 5 am the other night rewatching breaking bad, just forwarding past all the Skylar scenes and watching the good stuff only.

Between that and Mad Men, that could take me into the new year.
