Was TVO (tractor vaporising oil) ever used in the United States. I remember my uncle using it in the UK but is no longer available. Any idea what the ratio of parrafin(kerosine) to petrol ( gas) was used. The tractor had two fuel systems. You would start up with gas and was the engine was warm enough you would switch over to this TVO.

I believe that what you refer to is the old diesel engines that had a pony motor on them that ran on gasoline. When the pony motor got the diesel spinning fast enough to get ignition, then you turned off the pony motor. I believe that by the mid 1960's these engines were no longer used.

We had a couple old WD-9 Internationals and a Farmall MD that started on gas then switched to diesel. These didn't have pony motors.
