Does anyone have any more info on these tractors other that what has already been posted on this forum. I think the dealers meeting is this month and would sure like to know more on these tractors. Sure hope they put a power reverser in these units as it would keep the price down and be easier to bush hog with I have heard. Appreciate any info, thanks in advance.

I am hearing the cabs will be on hydro tractors only. I was thinking I heard it here, but couldn't find the post.

Having used both PRT and hydro tractors for brush hogging, I personally prefer the HST (let the gear vs. HST war begin! Just kidding!) Being able to infinitely vary speed with a pedal and the Load Match function that automatically slows the tractor when the cutting gets heavy to prevent stalling are nice features. Plus you never have to mess with a clutch.

Of course, as you noted, the HST cost more and money doesn't necessarily come easy.

I mow with both and the HST is far and away better. Let me explain. You can speed up and slow down as cutting conditions vary. You don't have to keep clutching to slow down when encountering obstacles such as low hanging tree branches, or mowing in and out of trees and such. Ok, the power reverser may give you 1 more HP but this is inconsequential (3 to 4%) on a 25 HP machine in my opinion.

Like I said, we have both types of tranny's and I would NEVER buy a compact without a hydro. Hydro only costs about $1500 more than shuttle. This amounts to $29 per month for a 5 yr loan at 6%

Most folks that don't like hydro are those that have concerns over reliability. JD hydros do not have reliability problems on the whole. It is very exceptional that one would have a problem with a JD hydro.

I have both a Power Reverser and a HST - they both have their place. If I had to pick just one - it would be the HST for sure.

I have operated stick tractors ( NON power reverse) for 27 years and I just bought my first hydro and I don't think I will ever go back to stick. They are great for brute force, but it can wear you out doing loader work. I really like the fine control of both speed and movement on the HST /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
