JinmaSeat.jpgI bought my Jinma 284 in 2006 with the JW03 backhoe. I assumed it came with a swivel chair. But looking at it I can't see how it would swivel or flip over for using the backhoe. But maybe it does. Does anyone have this chair? I thought it might flip over where the back rest becomes the seat, and vice versa. See my photos. The other problem is the dreaded foaming gear oil (80W-90) gushing out of the breather. I ran the tractor and backhoe (lightly) for a week or two before this foaming started. I've read a lot of the posts about the problem. For those with a Jinma 200 series that got this problem, what did you discover was the cause? I hate to have to take off the backhoe pump. It's bad enough to have the gear oil pour out while replacing the gasket, but pouring it back in with a funnel takes forever! I guess I could back the the tractor up a hill before taking the pump off. How should I troubleshoot this air leak/foaming gear oil? I still hope to get a trench dug before the ground freezes here. It's 42 degrees here at 11pm but colder weather is on the way. A few days ago, farther north in Alaska, it was -65 degrees in Manley Hot Springs, Alaska, while it was 40 degrees here in Juneau, a 105 degree difference!

I assumed all 3pt backhoes came with their own seat (so you壇 have two seats). Yours doesn稚, obviously.

I googled your tractor out of curiosity and this link came up. Shows a backhoe on it with a seat (didn稚 look to see if it痴 the same as your backhoe)

Used Jinma 284 Compact Tractor with Loader and Backhoe

Regarding the foaming gear oil, if it were me, I壇 check that all if the connections/fill cap were tight (o ring bad or missing maybe and letting air in?)

Just guesses on my part....good luck

The JW-03 and LW-6 three-point mounted hoes have their own seat. Is your hoe hitch or frame mounted? Can't tell from your pics.

If your gear oil resembles vanilla pudding it has water in it. Lots of it. Guess how it gets there.

It's frame mounted.
The gear oil is brown like coffee. I put in new gear oil but there was enough of the black stuff left to color the new oil. I don't think any water is getting in.

Sounds like it should have been flushed first. Good that no moisture is in there.

The transmission fill port (square bolt painted red on top) is right next to the breather tube, so it wouldn't need to seal out air, would it? I'm thinking that the backhoe hydraulic pump gasket might be the first place to look. To do that I will have to remove the backhoe fuel tank.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the backhoe does not have a fuel tank. Can I assume you are referring to the hydraulic reservoir?

The only time I have ever seen brown gear oil is when it was mixed with clay (dirt) from a failed sprocket shaft seal. I cannot think of any other way to make it brown.

Oops, I meant hydraulic oil tank. I let the gear oil drain for two days. I guess there was still some of the black oil in there from the factory. It was quite dark stuff. What does one use to flush the gear oil reservoir? Thanks.
