I just finished repainting my fenders and floor pans on my newly purchased L 3000. I ordered the paint from the local Napa [ rattle cans] After painting them I pulled the tractor into the garage to reinstall, suprise!! different color, the original color seems at least two shades darker than my newly painted fenders! Is there two different kubota oranges? thanks Dave

Think so.

Yeah, I think the older ones were darker.

Actually, the older ones where a much lighter shade of orange (and got even lighter with exposure to sun). I had a 1980 B7100, and then a mid-late 90's B7100. The later one was pretty much the same color as the current models, and darker than the 1980.

The local Tractor Supply Company stores around here have them labeled as "Old Kubota Orange" and "New Kubota Orange" in front of the cans. I can't remember which one was darker but there was a noticeable difference on the can tops.

GM orange engine paint is a perfect match to one of them?

Might have been a good idea to paint a small piece of steel and matched it up with the tractor first.
At least you will have more coats of protection now.

I grabbed a spray can at my Kubota dealer and when the guy at the counter went to ring it up he asked if I knew there were two colors. Glad he asked because I just grabbed the wrong one. Saved me some grief.

Allis Chalmers orange is very close too.

In my opinion the original Kubota paint is very poor quality and quickly fades if left outside. Even waxing/buffing won't bring back the color once it starts fading.

I have seen a tractor that had the loader painted with the older paint but the tractor was coated with the new orange. I guess they were put together right around the time when paint was switched. It worked perfect but there was a noticeable difference. On some older models the paint on the hydraulic cylinders fads much faster then on the rest of the machine.

Oops, my bad:D.

Cat also changed their color. About 10 years ago they changed from a bright yellow to a more gold yellow.
